Mandalas & Mental Health
“Each person’s life is like a mandala – a vast, limitless circle. We stand in the center of our own circle, and everything we see, hear and think forms the mandala of our life … everything that shows up in your mandala is a vehicle for your awakening.“–Pema Chodron
Our own healing journeys are never straight lines. We never go from Plan A to Plan B to Plan C. Often our journeys have twists and turns. Circles and mazes. Times we get stuck and lost. And times we see clearly. These healing journeys can be represented in the Mandala-a Sanskrit word for circle.
Mandalas have been used to represent this healing journey through the work of Carl Jung, the famous psychotherapist, Buddist monks, and Art therapists.
As therapists, Mandalas remind us of our beautiful South Texas sunrises and the famous Rio Grande Valley sunsets. Each day we have an opportunity to learn more and be better to ourselves, our families, and our communities.
